cannot legalise my copy of windows xp pro

Question
-
I have bought a secondhand laptop, some time ago. I have been using it with no problem, but service pack3 tells me I have with a blocked copy of windows xp pro. I have been to the windows genuine advantage site to PAY for a valid copy ( I am not trying to do it for free!) , but it trys to convert me to windows 7- I do not wish to go there yet, as my desktop runs a fully legal setup of xp.
Please, how do I get to register/validate/buy/authorise or whatever the correct terminoligy is and stay with xp pro!

Sorry, but Windows XP is considered obsolete and is no longer being sold or distributed by Microsoft. See: Getting Started with Windows 7

Check for a COA sticker on the laptop - if it exists, you may be able to install the version of XP for which it is valid. To do so, you will need to acquire an OEM copy of the appropriate OS, and use that disk, and the COA Product Key.
