Windows 7: cloned HDD claims not to have genuine Windows installed RRS feed

  • I've got a Toshiba Tecra M10 running Windows 7 Professional.  I put in larger HDD and cloned everything onto it (using Microsoft Backup / Restore).  Now Windows says that it's pirated.  The WGA Diag output is --

  • This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -  

     

    Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers

    try downloading and installing them from here - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=22194

     

    (you want the iata_enu.exe download)

     

    Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

    I followed them and everything appeared to be good.  I was able to do a large Windows update.  Then, the next day, I again received the not genuine Windows message.  I used MGADiag again and the results are indeed different:

  • I can see no reason that you should have received a ny further non-genuine notifications - which means that it was probably a race condition, which should sort itself out over a few reboots.

  • You are right that the situation sorted itself out after a couple more days.  It's a strange race condition because it took days after I applied the fix before the second non-genuine warning started happening.  But, whatever, it's gone now.
