A friend of mine has a Dell laptop that had a functioning OS but was having trouble getting internet connectivity so we decided to try to reinstall XP. It was telling us it had limited connectivity and we did all the steps recommended to correct that problem (release/renew, etc.). I had the idea to do a Repair install of XP. He has his original Dell disks and the Key code. But, when the install began, it defaulted to an Upgrade Install (to the best of my memory) and continued.
Now, we are still not able to get connected to the internet so it will not Activate Windows. Unfortunately, we are working in Korea and have difficulty dialing a land line. Now, it will not let us into Windows to do any more troubleshooting.
Can you offer any suggestions. We are able to make a voice phone call but not able to dialup from the computer.
TIA,
Tom
