Can I downgrade from vista 64-bit to 32-bit? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought a laptop that came with Vista Home Premium 64-Bit Edition. And there are several programs that i need to run, that aren't compatible with thr 64-bit version. having bought the laptop, which obviously came with a license for the 64-bit version of windows, can i downgrade to a 32-bit version without having to buy it full price? I figure if i have a license for the 64-bit version, i should be able to replace it with a 32-bit version free of charge, seeing as I'd be getting rid of the 64-bit version completely.

  • Contact the manufacturer of your new computer and ask them if they have a Windows Vista 32-bit disc they can send you.  This will require a "clean install".

  • It will be clean install and the computer manufacturer should provide you that free as you are not going to use the 64 bit OS.
