The "not genuine Windows" message started appearing about six weeks after the hard drive replacement, so I'm not sure that the two events are related. I barely knew what I was doing. I changed a partition size the next day so the OS could see the
entire 500 GB (vs previous 320 GB). It's very possible that things were overlooked.
