Can't find my site on the most basic of search terms!

Question
-
I am the owner of http://www.hendersoncountygop.com and our only two really relevant search terms are Henderson County Republican Party and Henderson County GOP.
LiveSearch Help support shows me that I've been indexed but I do not show up at all for these two basic searches!
I am at #1 or #2 on Google and Yahoo for these terms and can not find any rhyme or reason to why I'm not being found AT ALL here. I'm not porn, I've got solid content, great meta tags, tons of inbound links.... AARRGGHH!
Can anyone help me out on where to look next for a solution??Wednesday, January 2, 2008 7:40 PM

Zuhaib,
I would go ahead and use NoODP if you can find a way to make it happen. This will help in all engines. We unfortunately don't guarentee 100% coverage of any site. Have you added a sitemap? Are you using lots of query string params in your catalog? These things could have an impact.

well, "time" has seemed to solved my problems as a previous poster suggested it might. I am now appearing as #1 on both of my two basic search terms (95% of my searches are henderson county republican party or henderson county gop) just like i already was on google and yahoo.
nothing else has changed, not content, or code, or inbound links - nada.
interesting.

Did you have this site located at other URLs in the past? Is there any redirection going on at all. I want to assist, but I don't see any obvious reasons for the problem.

No, this is a brand new url as of October and it has only had one host server. No redirection.
The old website for our organization( http://www.hendersongop.com ) is abandoned but it was never redirected to the new one. The content, tags, everything is brand new.
Thank you for wanting to help, its making me nuts!Tuesday, January 8, 2008 3:47 PM -
Your site is new and live hates new sites, the only sure way is to get a link from a .edu - or similar - site, that's all to mighty new beta.

I responded to your question, any ideas?

Robert
I looked at your source code and there are a couple of odd ones:<SCRIPT language=JavaScript src='http://www.gop.com/Feeds/NewsFeed-thin.aspx'></SCRIPT>
That seems to not work? Couldn't quite work out what it was supposed to be doing.
The general coding is yuck with lots of extraneous stuff, but I would say that the fact that your <title> and meta description are identical could be fixed fairly easily and might well help the site rank.Monday, January 14, 2008 4:58 PM -
the news feed code is what gives us the "live" RNC news on our homepage.
i'lll look at our title and meta tags but we appear NOWHERE in the results so I'm still thinking its something much stranger than that...
thanks!Monday, January 14, 2008 8:07 PM -
Jeremiah,
Our site (www.trade-a-plane.com) is having pretty much the same issue. We do use 301 redirects as part of our session managment system, but although the MSN web tools show over 800 pages indexed, we don't show up AT ALL in MSN search results. If you search for our name directly, you get our parent company (TAP Publishing), as well as several of our smaller sister companies (e.g., Rockanddirt.com, weathertap.com, etc.), but no us. We are a very well established company (70 years old) and doing well on Google and Yahoo. Any ideas what's going on with MSN?
Thank you!

Jeremiah ,
More odd "evidence" of a problem.
Using my inbound link search tool ( http://www.marketleap.com/publinkpop/default.htm ) I have strange results.
Google recognizes 410 inbounds, Yahoo sees 3,858 and MSN sees 0 !
Is this possibly part of the puzzle?

I'm just trying to see if he's still watching this thread. He is still watching and he knows what causes this problem but they don't know what to do about it. To correct your problem they have to twick the alogrithm which is the last thing they want to do. I don't predict any changes to your site's rank in the near future unless ofcourse they manually change your rank which again they would prefere.

We are seeing almost exactly the same thing. Robert's tool shows our site (www.trade-a-plane.com) has lots of links for Yahoo and Google. . .none for MSN. If I go to the MSN webmaster tools page, it shows over 700 indexed pages. . .and also lists inbound links. How could this be? All of our company's other sites show up in MSN search results except this one (which is the biggest site). Do you guys think it could be related to 301 redirects? That's really the only difference I know of between them.
Thanks!

Hi,
I have the same problem here. If I type Pebblestar, I can't find my site www.pebblestar.com . I have a permanent redirect 301 to my index page. I have been told that was ok.
What do I need to do?
Thanks.

Hi, it appears that I have a similar problem with my website: Thai Style I do not have any 301 redirects or anything like that. My site ranks well in both Yahoo and Google for terms such as "Thaistyle Travel Guide" but does not show up at all in live search except for a search on: www.thaistyle.co.nz Live has always struggled to index my website. Not sure why? any help would be appreciated.Tuesday, January 22, 2008 2:31 PM

Sorry to jump on this but I too from last week am having the same problem. My site http://www.hotchocolates.co.uk was ranked nearly number 1 for all keyword searches in its field but since last week cannot be found in any of its searches AT ALL!! Not even on the domain name. It is a small business website that I maintain with good keywords and good content & good links. No major changes to the site appart from links & gallery updates.
Google & Yahoo still pplace us high but have no idea what the hell is going on with MSN!! I emailed support (which got escalated to another team) and all they said is check the content of your site and pointed me to this site and webtools. Not helpful at all really!
How can a site that appeared almost top of page 1 in all it's searches now vanihes from all searches???

Dear WebMaster,
Can you help me listing all our pages on Live, is it necessary to write NOODP on my pages ? We have approx over 100,000 products on our website which means 100,000 product pages + other pages such as Category & Brand Catalog etc. But i can see only 1050 pages on Live. Website is http://kaanza.com How would Live Search Bot list all our pages !

That's Good news, Robert. There have been minor changes for my site (www.trade-a-plane.com). We do show up now if you search for us directly and a couple of our search terms have appeared about 50th or so over the past few weeks (we're mostly top 5 on the other engines with the same terms). Otherwise, no change. These guys obviously have major problems and don't seem to be to anxious to own up to them or assist. I suppose that's why they are trying to buy Yahoo! I have never been one of the Microsoft bashing crowd, but I'm starting to see why they are so prevalent.

Hello Jermiah,
I am quite happy that currently 51,900 of our pages are indexed on Live.com and increasing. But still Live have to do alot more that as a Search Engine,
Lets say, if we recieve 1500 visitors per day, 1400 are from Google and 100 from Live that is a huge difference. I hope Live can play a vital role as a source of traffic in future.
