HTTP: Browsing to an IP through multiple IP Devices RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am a controls engineer and I'm trying to access an Ethernet device on a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) Network.

The path I'm trying to use is

    http://10.42.100.11/10.41.8.11/10.41.1.11

I use a Rockwell Automation's RSLinx and i can see the device. I'm trying to use the browser in the same way to view it. If I use  http://10.42.100.11

I can view the UI of the device, but I don't know the commands to go through that device to the next and so on?

  • We also have 100's of Rockwell hardware Ethernet devices at a large coal mine. What you described needs the network to support that route so you can get to that end device. The route you browsed inside RSLinx is most likely via the Allen-Bradley device backplane which does not support the routing of normal TCP/IP traffic. The http syntax is not possible nor is it valid. Might ask them more over here.
