Proxy Firewall and OCS Communicator Client RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

We have a proxy firewall that requires users to authenticate with their windows credentials.  It is not integrated to prevent malware issues.  We have noticed that unless we turn the proxy off in IE (Settings, Lan Settings, Proxy), the OCS client has problems connecting to the exchange server (or rather the OCS web service on the front end server that connects to exchange) and downloading the GAL.  Anyone know why this is?  Does OCS use the IE settings?

Interestingly enough, for all internal addresses, IE is supposed to bypass the proxy, so the prox should really not be causing an issue.

    Any thoughts?

  • Hi there,

Yes the ocs communicator client uses the proxy server. Setting an exception for any local domains would be best (ie. *.domain.local).

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers

  • Hi,
Try to access the address book URL from your IE and see if its going to proxy. If its going to proxy then bypass that.
