Bidirectional sync after Snapshot on same tables RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to use bidirectional sync after snapshot on same tables? Right now it looks like when running bidirectional it tries to insert records that are already present on client (after snapshot sync) and thus produces an error.

Am I totally misunderstanding logic behind snapshot sync?

Snapshot synchronization completely refreshes data every time that the client is synchronized. This is appropriate when you do not want to track incremental changes or the server cannot do so.

Does this mean that no metadata is stored when executing snapshot sync? So when subsequent bidirectional sync is run it is considered to be initial and thus all inserts are applied?

  • right, you can not first take a snapshot and then sync bidirectional.

  • This is correct, once a CE database is configured for Snapshot sync, it cannot be used for bidirectional sync.
