Annoying Pop up message in MS CRM Dynamics 4.0 client for Outlook

Question
-
I use CRM within my MS Outlook. I get these annoying messages.
A Microsoft Dynamics CRM window was unable to open and may have
been blocked by a pop-up blocker. Please add this Microsoft Dynamics
CRM server to the list of sites your pop-up blocker allows to open new
windows:asicrm
Well, this seems simple, but it is not. Our CRM server is asicrm.
When I go into Windows /tools/Internet options/Privacy/popup blockers/settings/allowed sites....
I put in http://asicrm
This does not help.
I was on Vista, now upgraded to Windows 7.
I was on IE 7, now on 8. These changes made no difference.
FYI, when I get this message, I simp[ly hold down on the control key and try the request again and it works.
HELP please.Tuesday, December 8, 2009 8:55 PM

Did you also take this step. This is an important step.
“Reset all zones to default level”. Be sure to reset each one of the Security Zones to their default setting. You might also need to unset and then reset the Protected Mode after you set each one of the Security Zones to their default. Since this is an issue related to a warning when using the CRM Outlook client and does not occur when using the Web client, I am fairly certain the issue lies in this setting.
I think you also had a pop up blocker issue so between the changes to the Protected Mode and Security Zone settings, and removing all add-on toolbars, you should be able to resolve the issue.

Check to see if you have any add-on toolbars like Google, Yahoo or others and turn off Popup Blockers. If you don't have any add-on toolbars, for a test, turn off pop up blockers completely and see if that corrects the issue. If so, then you might need to put something like *asicrm* instead of the specific URL in the pop up blocker setting.
You also might need to set Protected Mode to On. See this post for more information.

I had the same problem on the one client. I was trying to resolve it in probably all the solutions which I found in internet like here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/crm/archive/2007/09/12/improve-the-outlook-experience-with-crm-part-four.aspx
butt it wasn't working. After all we asked support team to reinstall whole MS Office 2007 and it helped.

Hi Donna,
Thanks for the ideas but it did not help. I did have a Google toolbar and turned off the pop up blocker. No difference.
So I went into IE and turned off the pop up blocker. No difference.
I sure hope I don't have to live with this the rest of my life... :-)Tuesday, December 8, 2009 9:57 PM -
Did you check the post and make those changes. You also might have some toolbars that are not apparent. Go to add / remove programs and see if you have any other toolbars listed. If so, uninstall them.

Alot of people have this problem and the only solution i found which worked, was to diasble UAC and then restart computer. It helps, but its a secure breach. So its not a good solution at all, but it worksTuesday, December 8, 2009 10:19 PM

Oh sorry, yes I did already have asicrm in there. I also had *asicrm in there. So I put *asicrm* in. Didn't help.
It is getting worst. Now, even when I bring up my contact list view (before I even choose a contact) I hear a beep. I look behind the contact list screen and there is that stupid message again. Now, holding down the control key does not help.
It happens everytime now.

I believe the solution is in the Post link in my first response.

I think the UAC workaround is to resolve the problem of a blank page appearing when you select the View Regarding in CRM on a tracked e-mail.

Perhaps adding the port and the orgname nad loader.aspx to the url in the popup blocker settings may help.
Since your using Win7 your using the new browser.
I just tried those settings on my win7 laptop. Worked right away.
I tried it w/o the popup blocker. Then I put the site in my popup blocker settings.
Works.
I also did the same on my Vista ultimate desktop which is outside the Forest.
Works.
There must be some Browser helper object or addon hanging in there.
Check what is starting up on boot time and see if there is still some google app or tool bar loading through the registry. It's amazing how many times something like that has caused issues.
Let us know.

Oh man. At first I was a bit freaked out to change my settings to protected Mode. sounds scary. But I followed the instructions. Exited Outlook and IE. Went back in. Didn't help. I still get the stupid message about a pop up blocker.
This system is pretty clean. I had to strip it down to upgrade to Windows 7, so I uninstalled most junk.
I will look into uninstalling google tool bar and anything else that looks threatening.
thank you for trying. I may just be stuck with this.Tuesday, December 8, 2009 11:03 PM -

I agree with Donna. Reset the zones to build a new foundation for the browser configuration.
Makes sense.

Man, I have reset zones with the best of them. I still do not understand what I am doing but I have unset protected mode, reset zones. Apply, save, jump up, turn around, close ie, open ie. Try it. Nope.
Start all over again 40 times. I have reset and set so many time, my computer is now typing in reverse. (kidding about that one).
I give up. Thanks for trying. I am doomed to always here a BEEP and see the pop up blocker message. Turning down the volume fixes half the problem because I no longer here the warning beep. But guess what is hideen behind the contact or account?

If you want to share your computer, I will send you session information offline to connect to a remote session so I can see if I can find the setting that is causing the issue.

If you have an IM account, please provide it here and once I add you to my list, you can delete it. Messenger, Yahoo or Skype would be best if you have any of those.

News Flash....
I had an inside IT guy look at my computer. They read your instructions about resetting zones, protected mode, and uninstalled Google Toolbar. (which pop up was turned off).
Problem gone.
I wish I could accuratly tell you which dirty deed fixed it, but my guess would be uninstalling Google Toolbar.
thank you so much for all your help
