Windows 7 says not genuine after updates....copy was purchased Aug 2010

Question
-
I ran windows updates before a backup a few days ago. I'm not sure if this is the cause, but I am now receiving a message that my copy of Windows 7 is not genuine.
I read on a Microsoft troubleshooting page to try uninstalling update "KB971033". I found the update, which was updated last year, and uninstalled it. After restarted, I downloaded the validation software again, and am still getting the message that it is not valid.
I purchased the copy for my husband who is a student at a local college. I purchased it from The Microsoft® Office Professional Academic 2010 store Customer Service when they were having the Microsoft, the Ultimate Steal sale.

Unfortunately, the error code "HrOnline: 0xC004C533" doesn't tell me much. It means "Notification Unknown State" which basically translates to 'Unknown Non-Genuine causing issue'.
While I haven't found any consistently successful fix for this type of issue, the Licensing Store Corrupt steps, that Noel first posted, have been known to resolve the issue in some cases (in fact, those steps did correct the "Microsoft VBScript runtime error" seen in the original Diagnostic Report).
I have also found that Re-activating can sometimes resolve the issue but the fact that the whole Diagnostic Report (except for that one error code) shows no issue at all, I am not sure that re-activating would do the trick (I'm not sure you will even be able to re-activate since the report indicates Windows is currently Activated) But let's give it a try.
Click the start button and type: slui 4 and then hit the Enter key. This will launch the Activate by Phone wizard. Follow the directions and when you first phone the Activation Call Center, either select the option to talk to a Live Activation Rep or, if there is no option, don't enter or say anything to the automatic Phone Prompt, this will force the Prompt to transfer you to a Live Rep.
Once done with the re-activation, reboot. Once Windows reboots, see if the non-Genuine issue still remains.
Note: MY Key Information Tool is currently down so I am unable to confirm the Product Key is Valid and Genuine but I see no indication that it is not, from the Report.
Hope that helps,

That's better :)Just one minor error left now - go to the Validation site (www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate ) and validate Windows - it should now pass, and clear the error above.

Odd - the error hasn't cleared!Did you get through the validation OK, and get offered MSE?Try going to the Diagnostics site (www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag ) and see if that shows any errors - if so, follow the advice there until it shows all-green, and then validate again.Post back with your results.

I think we'd best wait until Darin gets in and see what he has to say about this - it's not a problem I've encountered before. With any luck he'll be able to pinpoint something I'm not seeing, with the tools he has at his disposal.
