Error when trying to install CRM Outlook client w. offline acces RRS feed

  • Hi.

    We got a huge problem with one of our customers. Its not possible for us to install a CRM Outlook client with offline access.

    The enviroment is novell fileserver and windows serves for the rest, but I dont think its the issue here.

    I REALLY hope that someone can help me out here.

     I succeeded my removing the installation file from MSXML 4.0, with the utillity tool from MS.

  • Since that file is so new, there might be an issue that hasn't surfaced yet.

    Maybe try the 'previous' version of the install client (the one with UR7 included) and then patch to UR10/11 after the install complets.

    You might also try /not/ downloading the 'updated installation files' as a test - just to see if there's an incompatibility.

    Does your installation have mandatory patching from the server? - if so, make sure the latest patch is set to UR10 or UR11.

    I succeeded this by removing the MSXML 4.0 installation file, that was in some way conflicting with the installation of the CRM client. I just used the Utility tool from MS

    There's a new version of the CRM Client with UR10 slipstreamed in - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=60C4A6CC-59D7-416E-9F44-0AE8FF249768&displaylang=en released 6/28/10 - so you may want to try it.

  • Hi Caspar, what is the OS of the workstation? Does the normal online client install correctly? What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far? What version of the client are you attempting to install (is it the UR7 client that was released in Oct 2009)?

    Thanks for answering. I'm pretty sure that I'm trying to install the latest client there is. I always download a new client from microsoft site when I install clients. But you are right the problem occur when I try to install the client and it comes to the download/installing of the database.

    Thanks for answering my thread. The OS is XP w. SP2 on all the workstations. The normal client works correctly. I tried to install/uninstall, looked at administrator rights and groups, made som research about their network enviroment, tried to download a client and unpacked it on a memorystick and tried to install it from there. All with no luck.

  • Caspar, I was just about to suggest the ideas that Scott has suggested. Also try downloading and installing SQL Server 2005 Express Edition just to see if there is any issue with installaing this prerequisite.

    Please also note that Microsoft's support for Windows XP SP2 ends in 2 weeks (13 July 2010). You should consider upgrading to SP3, or even Windows 7 ;)
