Onecare disabled cannot uninstall and install

  I seemed to have picked up a virus that onecare did not detect.  I started getting redirected to different websites than what I was trying to browse.  Then it seemed to disable onecare and I could not get ti to turn bacjk on.  i tried to uninstall and reinstall but I kept getting an error message telling me it was unsuccesful because the uninstall was not complete.  I installed AVG 9.0 and it found two spywares which I eliminated. I then uninstalled that and tried to uninstall and reinstall onecare but was not successful.  What should I do?
