Can WHS myweb.homeserver.com have a "subfolder" redirect to another webserver? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My WHS is configured to update its address to the xxxx.homeserver.com domain and I'm able to access it just fine over the Internet.  I would like to add an additional webserver (on another computer running Apache) and set it up so that if I were to browse to "http://xxxx.homeserver.com/secondServer" that it would send the requests to my box running Apache.  I'm guess that this is something that can be done with the IIS configuration on the WHS but that's purely a guess.  Does anyone have any experience with this or can you offer any pointers?

I'm assuming that another option would be to just set up a different dynamic DNS service for the other box but I was hoping to leverage the WHS in place.

  • Set up a different dynamic DNS service on the other box. It's simpler than the alternatives.

Edit: Umm. Having re-read the original post, can you restate your desired configuration a little more clearly? I may have misunderstood what you want to do...

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

In your router, if you don't enable http (port 80) for your WHS, then you can enable it for secondserver. Just use https (port 443) for WHS (which is what I do anyway).

Or you could change the port Apache listens on to (say) 81 and do

    http://xxxx.homeserver.com:81
