Computer locking up - Need help with one care RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I am running Vista and approx a month ago it started locking up while using Internet Explored on different sites.  The lockups are occurring more frequently each day.  A week ago I tried doing a restore point and could only go back about 10 or 12 days.  I would like to go back further to a restore point of 45 days if possible.  Can this be done?

Also I have been backing up using DVDs.  Does "Windows Live one care" backups back up my operating system or just files ?

I suspect the computer manufacturing company HP dropped an up date or up grade onto Vista and the up grade won't work well with Vista causing my problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • If you can only go back 10 or 12 days, that means that you don't have older Restore Points to use.

You may want to check to see if the video card drivers are up to date. Also, if it happens only while browsing the web, delete all Temporary Internet Files and cookies and disable all toolbars and add-ins.

OneCare only backs up data per the plan configured for your profile. If you accepted the defaults, all data types are being backed up, but files within \Windows or \Program Files will *not* be backed up, even if they are data.
