  • Hi,
I stumbled upon Live Mesh the other day and thought i would check it out. the thing that interested me was that there was talk about adding media center crontrols. but sadly this isn't the case yet and not sure if it will be. anyway i do like the Sync feature and the Remote Desktop feature makes it very easy and useful.

Fist off with the Remote Desktop, the way it works dosn't make any sense to me, i spent hours trying to get the remote desktop working and it kept saying "Live mesh remote desktop is not available". Then i went to bed and founf that the next day it changed so i was able to connect again. I just installed Live mesh on a third pc and seem to be getting the same issue,

I though live mesh would be a great way to take my work home with me, it makes sure that i'm alway working on the same copy. in the past i've had to copy them to and from pc's but usb hard drive and this often meant that i would get duplicate copies and it was just a bit message. What i am currently using this for is to sync my Visual Studio projects. The concern i have though is to do with bandwidth. I noticed that every time i run a build in VS to check my work it would begin to sync the files (because they have been updated). Now this could mean that the same file gets updated several times when ideally i would only want to sync when i go home or when i have finished my work. I think this best solution for this would be to give us some more control over when Live mesh syncs, perhapds some options like "Sync Daily at 5:00pm" or a "Manual Sync Only" option. This would greatly help because every time i upload/download its costing me bandwidith/money. Also i read somewhere about a possible incremental sync, this would also help with this aspect.

As for the remote desktop feature this seems to be pretty good, i'd just like to see some sort of wake on connection type option so i can use this sleep features and not have to have my pc running all the time.

  • Oh i forgot to add, another thing that makes it very hard to see is the overall sync progress of a folder. I like the progress bar for individual files but in the case where you need all of the files in the folder to be synced, like a Visual Studio project, it would be good to have some sort of indication as to how many more files need to be sync'ed for the mesh folder.
