    I bought in december on line  a windows genuine advantage kit for windows XP.

    I fixed the computer. Microsoft web site informs me that I will get a CD.

    I get the CD. My kids destroy windows XP on the computer. Try to reinstall windows without destroying the files. During the installation process, the software ask me for the product key.

    I check the envelop, nothing, I check the plastic thing, nothing. I read that I got it with my E mail. Well the E mail is in the computer that I am trying to recover.

     

    How am I suppose to know the product code if it is hidden in the machine????

     

    I would appreciate some help. Thank you very much

    That is a very interesting issue and we don’t have a good answer for this one.  We would really like to get a better understanding of it so we can better help you and other users with similar problems.  Could you please file a service request with Microsoft Product Support:  http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=52029 .  Once you have done that, please reply back to this post and provide the SR # generated by the service request.  Also explain what transpired over the phone with CS and maybe they can look up information pertaining when you ordered the service kit originally.  Please let us know if you would be willing to do this!!
