Full System Restore error RRS feed

  • Question

  • After setting up WHS 2011 and connecting my clients I was going to try a Full System Restore on my Vista 64 client.

Booting with the Client Restor CD - No problem

Starting the wizard - No problem

Connecting to Server and login with password - No problem

Choosing a backup from the list of available backups - No problem

Starting recovery - Popup: An unknown error prevented restoring of the system. Would you like to run the restore wizard again? (My system is in swedish, so this is a translation from the swedish error message.)

Pressing Try again: Back to Choose computer dialog.

Choosing this computer and the the latest backup.

Starting recovery process: Error popup with the following name: ClientRestoreWizard_Fresh.exe - Program error.

Text: Instruction on 0xfe0a9c32 refered to memory on 0x000000bc. Could not perform a memory action. Following eroor was returned: The memory could not be written. Click OK to end the program. (Again my translation of the information from swedish.).

Any ideas what could cause this and what I should do?

What's the state of the disk you are trying to restore to? It works best with a blank disk without partitions.

  • I don't even get to the point where I am able to choose a disk to restore to.
