Cannot update desktop [error #80070006] or login to Mesh [error 80004005] RRS feed

  • Question

  • I received a Mesh update this evening.

Once again it was unable to configure my remote desktop and received error #80070006 - this is already logged on Connect - although I have still been able to login OK.

The twist this evening is that I'm now unable to login to Mesh (reportedly a problem with my pre-filled username and/or password) which produces error 80004005.

Anyone else getting either of these?

  • Done!

After posting this I closed the Mesh client. After preparing the logs and just before posting the report, I restarted Mesh (but not the PC) and it connected successfully straight away.

  • Thanks Crash,  it may have just been an intermittant network connection issue somewhere that caused the error, but the logs will confirm it for us.  Good to hear it's working again now for you though!

  • Hi Crash,

Those errors are from 2 different programs. Error 80070006 is an update error for defender having to do with (Kb915597). And error 80004005 is a driver error in windows. Possibly a driver needs to be updated. This could have nothing to do with mesh directly, but have caused a hinderance inderectly.

  • Diana, those error numbers are common to many different programs and services, including Live Mesh.
