Genuine Office Complimentary Offer for DVD with sticker RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased a copy of Office 2007 Pro from an Amazon.com store.  I now find it's counterfeit.  My copy has a hologram DVD, but it's a sticker not embedded in the disc.  Is this copy eligible for the counterfeit report offer?  Everything else about the product looks perfect...COA, packaging, manuals, product key, etc.

  • Hello Yoam69,

View genuine and counterfeit samples of Microsoft software materials at http://www.howtotell.com.

No one from Microsoft is authorized to post here to tell you whether your materials are hi-quality counterfeits.  Only the Microsoft-contracted cryptographic labs http://www.microsoft.com/howtotell/cad/Content.aspx?displaylang=en&pg=Forensic that get submissions from the public are authorized to make that determination.

However, if your materials all say "Office Professional 2007," but the materials actually installed an Invalid copy of Office Professional Plus 2007, then you stand an excellent chance of having hi-quality materials.

  • Hello Yoam69,

Your first course of action is to confront your seller with this information and demand a full refund.  You can also try to exert pressure on the seller by reporting them to the selling venue, and by pursuing whatever remedies are available to you from your payment system (such as PayPal or your Credit Card company, etc) or your local legal system.  Initially working within the system helps to exercise the functions that drive out dishonest sellers and protect consumers.

If the seller refuses to help, and if the other remedies fail, please file a piracy report at www.microsoft.com/piracy.  Also, depending upon whether you received "high quality" counterfeit materials, you may qualify for the Office Complimentary Offer or for the Office Genuine Advantage discounted offer.  Please see the FAQ here:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx?displaylang=en#ID0EKNAC  If you think that you qualify for the Genuine Office Offer, apply for the Offer thru the Learn More Online link that the OGA Notifier is displaying.

  • I've done all that...not much chance the seller is going to even reply.  I think they closed up shop.  Since the purchase happend last January, but Microsoft just rolled out the GA testing, I didn't know about the counterfeit product until now.  My question needs to be answered by someone at Microsoft I guess.  The issue is very simply whether they consider the DVD that has a high-quality sticker of the hologram a "high quality counterfeit."
