Announcing: MPCluster for Caliper Maptitude RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • We have just released the Caliper Maptitude port of our MPCluster analysis product.

Although this is technically not a MapPoint product, it is a port of a MapPoint product will be of interest to many MapPoint users looking for alternatives.

The original MapPoint version used the K-Means algorithm, but the new Maptitude version also adds the option of using a Hierarchical algorithm. In contrast to the stochastic K-Means algorithm (ie. contains a random component), the Hierarchical algorithm is deterministic. This means the runs are full reproducible: multiple runs with identical data and settings will result in identical results.

The Maptitude version also adds new output options suited to Maptitude's sophisticated data layers.

See http://www.mpcluster.com for further details and a free 14 day trial download.

Licenses cost US$100 but there are volume discounts, and discounts for existing users of MPCluster for MapPoint.

  • MPCluster for Maptitude v1.1 has just been released!

This adds the ability to use an external distance table for Hierarchical clustering when Median centers are selected, instead of using the "straight line" (great circle) distances that are normally used. This allows you to use driving distances (ie. implicitly take into account gaps in the road network due to rivers, lakes, and mountains), or you could use estimated costs to travel between the data points.

Support for selection sets in the input data has also been added, along with a number of other improvements and bug fixes.

v1.1 is a free upgrade for existing users of MPCluster for Maptitude v1.0.

See http://www.mpcluster.com for further information and a free trial download.
(MPCluster for Maptitude requires Caliper Maptitude installing first)
