Windows apparently not genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi! I bought my laptop with Windows 7 from a reputable electronics store and had been using it for over a year before I started getting popups stating that my copy of Windows is not valid. The date and time are correct and I've already tried retyping the product key. If anyone can help me figure out the problem I'd appreciate it. Thanks! Here is my diagnostic information:

  • Tampered File: %systemroot%\system32\wat\npwatweb.dll

The simplest way to fix this is to uninstall and reinstall the WAT update...

    Close all open windows.

Open an Elevated Command Prompt window, and type the following command

    wusa /uninstall /kb:971033

    and hit the Enter key

Accept the warnings/confirmations, and wait for it to complete

copy and paste the output (if any) from the command prompt window to a reply here,

    Reboot

    reinstall the update from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033

    Reboot

run another MGADiag report, and post it.

  • Thanks for the reply. The command prompt didn't say anything when it finished. Here's the new report:
