  • Question

  • Hello, I seem to have a similar problem to many others.  Never have had this problem in before.  Windows Vista Business user.

    1. Problem arose 5/28/2011, when I turned on computer. I don't remember installing or updating anything this AM or last night.

    2. 2 shutdowns ago updated shockwave player?

    3. Avast user, which is mentioned in other posts

    4. When the error box pops up and i click the button to direct me to: (Genuine Microsoft Validation)

    http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/?OSV=6.0.6001.2.00010100.1.0.000.00.1033&RFM=2&LegitCheckError=C004D401

It says "Windows validation in progress, This may take a few minutes, do not navigate away from this page" but runs for a few hours and never finishes.

Below is diag report.  After going to file:///C:/Windows/system32/perfmon.msc -->
