Mix Standard and Enterprise Editions in deployment RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Is a deployment of OCS 2007 R2 supported using different editions for different Server Roles?

Ex. Edge Servers use Standard, CWA - Standard, Directors and Front End Servers use Enterprise edition

    Thanks,
    Ed

  • Actually you do need a license for Edge servers as well.  You do not need a license for Directors (I've edited my earlier post to reflect this).

  • Yes, absolutely.  You only need Enterprise server licenses for servers that will be in a pool.  An Edge server can use a Standard license.

  • Ed,

As far as I know you only need to purchase OCS server license for the Front End servers. You do not need to purchase OCS server license for any other server role deployed on different servers. Therefore it makes no difference using either enterprise or standard edition for other server roles.
