Error when importing data - cached record? RRS feed

  • Hi,

    We are trying to import 4.0 data into a redeveloped 2011 system.

    I am trying to import all companies(accounts) and contacts. I have zipped the two csv files (exported from 4.0 system with http://mscrmbulkdataexport.codeplex.com/ tool).

    I have increased the file size limit to 32MB and increased timeouts.

    It gets to the stage of parsing the data prior to running the actual import job (after I have configured mapping). And then gives an error.

    The error is:

    Looking at the trace it is says: ">System.NullReferenceException: Microsoft Dynamics CRM has experienced an error. Reference number for administrators or support: #FA7F5F49: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

    However looking back further it seems to have an issue with a particular row of data:

    ####DATA STRING (i have left it out to protect data ### Exception: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): String or binary data would be truncated.

    The data looked fine and none of the fields appeared to be to big for the destination fields but I to troubleshoot I temporarily removed it from the CSV file and retried the process.

    To my suprise it gave the same error about the same exact row of data! This is despite it not being in the import data at all. I double and triple checked the data, rebooted both CRM and SQL servers, cleared IE cached and it still keeps happening.

    I also tried it on a clean uncustomised DEV box and it has the same problem.

    I can successfully import a very small subset of data (although it has issues with parent lookups because data is incomplete but this is to be expected).

    I also imported data from another entity without problem.

    System Details:

    CRM 2011 Update 12

    Windows 2003 Server R2 SP1 (both App and SQL Servers)

    SQL Server 2008
