Windows 7 Genuine Copy Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a genuine copy of Windows 7 Professional on my computer. Several copies, in fact. Every time I reinstall windows with a new key/disc combination, it works for a week or two, then begins to give me issues by saying that my copy of Windows is not genuine.

Why are you reinstalling with different Keys?

Your computer was built in 2008 - well before Windows 7 was released.
Your BIOS does not have the necessary SLIC table to support an OEM_SLP License for Windows 7

While your Key indicates that it's for a Dell Machine - your installation of Windows 7 is not, and cannot be valid, since the Key in use is appropriate ONLY for a machine with a validWin7 SLIC table in the BIOS.

If you bought this copy of a Dell Recovery disk thinking it would work for your machine, it won't.
If you bought this copy thinking that it was a genuine Retail disk, you were defrauded.

You need to revert the system back to its licensed Operating System (probably Vista Home Premium), and then you can install Windows 7 using an Upgrade pack from a reputable source.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
