A question about iocontrol RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can I use ioctrl to configure the hardware and gather parameters in user-mode?

What I have done is installing the HwTest driver and using ioctrl in my c++ windows application.

But in the DebugView, it returns "illegal io control".

What's the reason? Does ioctrl can only be used is kernel mode?

  • You can configure and monitor the hardware by UMX API. Please refer Sora manual for details.

The Device IO Control interface of HwTest driver is undocumented and for internal usage only. The error message "[UExtK] illegal IO control" means the invalid parameter, eg. buffer size is not as expected. We recommend you not use IO Control directly.
