Leads can be viewed by users aren't the owners RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have several users that are able to view leads in their base that they shouldn't be able to view. (Security settings are set to user on the lead). These leads are assigned to someone else and not shared with anyone. Some show an owner history of the person that it is not assigned to, even when this is removed they can still see the lead. Nothing I can see on the surface level is still assigned or shared with the users who don't own the lead. Both users are in the same Business Unit with the same roles.

I've tried reassigning these leads from the correct owner, to the person that shouldn't see them, and then back to the correct owner. Made sure that nothing is owned or shared with anyone but the correct owner. Using CRM4 R3 at the moment.

What can I do to remove the unauthorized view of these lead records?

  • RU8 is definitely worth a go. There is also a setting (can't quite remember where off the top of my head) where you specify that a record is shared back after assigning.

  • By default Ms CRM is a role based system,If roles and BU structure is designed and assigned properly this problem should not come. Please check your leaqd assignment rule is this automatic?if yes what logic you are using? Please also check your Lead view right for the respective users. If view right of lead is User level than possibility of a user seeing the leads of other user within the same eco syatem is almost nill.

If still problem persist please send me more scenarios to analyze.

  • HI,

look at this kb Articel. This is fixed with ru8.
974529  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/974529/ ) Some child records and related records are unexpectedly visible to the previous record owner after you reassign records to another record owner in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0
