Educational use of software RRS feed

  • Question

  • Did not find the correct forum but hope this is close to it - educational and also personal use of Microsoft software such as MS Windows (both workstation and server) but also MS Office.

    There are two resources:

    1. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO
    2. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/

My question is that may I use these resources for educational, personal purposes? Is it legal? E.g. download the MS Windows 10 ISO and say "I do not have a key" during installation and use it for personal, educational purposes?

Second topic - if student, home user creates its own Microsoft account and downloads the trial version (usually 60...90 days) and uses that software as permitted (60...90 days) using her, his personal product key she, he got from Evaluation Center then would it be legal to use such approach also in educational institutions and personal use?

Third question - would be the Microsoft Imagine (former Dreamspark) (https://imagine.microsoft.com/en-us/about) give the permission to use that software in educational institution for teaching purposes?

Under teaching purposes I mean in addition to show on screen through multimedia projector and teaching also installing into virtual machine under platform virtualization software, such as VMware, VirtualBox, etc.  Also preparing virtual appliances like .ova files and making them available as learning object for download.

It is relatively hard to find a way to ask this all from Microsoft customer support. I've been tried directly from U.S., also U.K. but did not succeed. Hope I can find trustful information here. I appreciate your adequate response, thank you!
