invalid product key RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Dell and we took it to someone we found on craigs list, he said there was a virus on our windows XP and had to load windows VISTA, we had it for otwo to three weeks and they the message product key invalid and at the bottom of the screen it said not genuine softeware I think. I got a hold of the person who worked on it and he said his software was genuine and the cause of my problem was a virus that is why I was receiving the message INVALID PRODUCT KEY.  IS THIS TRUE?  He now had my computer and he said it was a virus from MANGO-FOX?

    Thanks for your help

  • Hello mueller06,

In order to receive the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Run" to download and start the Utility.  When asked, click the "Continue" button.  When the utility completes its run, click the "Copy" button, then come back here and paste the report into your post.

Also, please look at the Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) that may be on your Dell.  Please tell us the version and edition of Windows that is listed on the CoA, and if "Dell" is printed on the CoA, too.  Don't post the product key!

Do you have a Dell Operating System Reinstallation Disc for this computer?
