Done. Here's what the log is showing now. The problem hasn't gone away. Now I'm also getting the message on my desktop that Windows isn't valid. I was only getting it from MSE before.

The diagnostic still comes up with the same result. It's not unusual for the desktop to lag up to 3 days behind the appearance of the problem - I have to admit it surprises me that it has taken 8 days to surface here.it would be a good idea (on principle, if nothing else) to check the file system.....Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....type in the Search boxCMD.EXEright-click on the only file that is foundSelect Run as Administrator- the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop upAt the Command prompt, typeCHKDSK C: /Rand hit the Enter key.You will be told that the drive is locked, and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot. The chkdsk will take a few hours depending on the sizeof the drive, so be patient! After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally(possibly after a second auto-reboot) - then run the SFCSFC -System File Checker - InstructionsClick on the Start buttontype in the Search boxCMD.EXEright-click on the only file that is foundSelect Run as Administrator- the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop upAt the Command prompt, typeSFC /SCANNOWand hit the Enter keyWait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.Post an MGADiag report with details of any error messages encountered.

We don't see many machines with this set of errors! (in fact I think this is only the second I can recall, in two years)FF often barfs on the validation page - it's always best to use IE - but that irrelevant in this caseI'm starting a completely blank slate here, as there is no history to work from.Your system appears to be activated properly, but validation is failing because of the Tamper. We need to find the tamper somehow, and identify the cause.Often, a tamper would also be identified (by a timestamp) in the TTS error line - but that is not the case here.I suspect that malware is the root cause - or perhaps the leftovers of a previous AV.What AV has ever been installed on this system since the last reformat/reinstall (or since new, if never reinstalled) including any installed by the manufacturer but never activated? Are you experiencing other problems, such as failing updates, or crashes, or slow performance? Are there any Error or Critical entries in the Event Viewer Application or System logs?

I'm using MSE now. I was using Avast prior to that and I think that the machine came with MacAfee. There are no items in the critical log but there are some errors.
No crashes, but the machine is very slow to start up. Once it's up an running though it runs fine.

OK - let's run the removal tools for the 'usual suspects' just in case, then...download each tool, and run it, then reboot (whether it asks for it or not) and proceed to the next.NortonMcAfeeAvastOnce complete, reboot again, and post a new MGADiag report.
