i bought a HP computer a while ago, it came pre-installed with windows xp HOME edition, i recently formatted the harddrive becaue of multiple virus's i couldnt get rid of.. i installed windows xp PRO edition, a cd i already had from before, because i did not get a cd with the computer i bought. blah.. blah.. installed perfectly blah... blah... they gave me 30 days to activate my windows copy, i left it untill i had about 16 days left then decided to activate, i tried the key i had for the windows xp PRO edition it said "too many computer are already using this key", but that key was already being used by my other computer, so i tried the key that is on the side of the HP computer, that also didnt work, but now i am locked out of my computer unable to log in when i log in it comes up with an error and tells me i have to activate, i want to know why the key i was given when i bought my computer does not work anymore, and maybe a possible solution to my problem, please help me, i am having to type this up on my friends computer.. please i need some ones help.. thankyouSaturday, September 8, 2007 12:11 PM

Dj Khaled,
First I would like to recommend you contact HP technical support and request how you may aquire/purchase reinstallation media for your particular model computer you own.
Recovery Software CD’s are specific to your computer manufacturer. Please contact your manufacturer for assistance. They should be able to assist with your request and/or questions. Since the telephone number and web sites are not maintained by Microsoft we cannot make any warranty as to their validity.
I have included their contact information here for your convenience: (800) 474-6836

Next you mentioned using XP Pro which you currently own but receiving an error indicating the product key is currently being used too many times. Please try and validate the XP Pro which you installed by visiting this site: http://www.windows.com/genuine. Next locate "Vallidate Windows" in the upper right hand corner. Please let us know the outcome. You will be given an option to GET GENUINE should your XP pro be non-genuine. You can visit the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/ which will provide information about your Windows XP software.
Please post back and let us know.
Thank you,

HP computers that ship with Microsoft Windows XP do
not come with Recovery CDs. Instead, they use a hidden
space (partition) on the hard drive to store the recovery
information.Read the following article thoroughly, then follow
the steps outlined to perform a "destructive"
recovery operation. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=bph07145&product=71013&dlc=en&lang=enObtaining HP Recovery CDs http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?product=71013&lang=en&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=bph07143
