Send an email to queue owner when an account is added to their queue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am trying to work with Queues as a way to notify someone when a new quote needs to be done for a lead/account. The way I have decided to go about doing this is with custom tabs, and a queue called "Quotes Requested" owned by the person who does the quotes. When a sales rep needs a quote done, they fill out the fields in the form and then assign the account/lead to "Quotes Requested" queue.

I understood the online help to mean that there was a way to send an email to the queue owner when something new was added to their queue. However, I have not been able to make this work yet. We are using CRM integrated with Outlook.

    Any help would be appreciated!

  • Hi Aryn,

    Try the following:

Create a new workflow against the 'Queue Item' entity. Fire on create and add a 'send email' step.

In the 'To' field on your email step, you should be able to select the parent queue's owner (In 'look for' in the form assistant, select 'Queue (Queue)' then 'Owner').

    I hope that helps,

  • You can also add a condition step in the workflow to make sure that the email is sent only when the queue item is an account (if necessary)
