  • Hello Disco09,

In addition to your Vista being nongenuine, your installation of Office is no good, too.

  • Hello Disco09,

You wrote, "but i have the authentic product of license sticker underneath"

What version and edition of Windows is listed on the license sticker (known as a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA))?  Does the CoA have IBM and/or Lenovo printed on it?

BTW, good idea on blanking out part of the PK.  :-)

  • i noticed the product key in the diagnostic report was different to the one on my sticker below.

    in the report:

    Windows Product Key: *****-*****-X9PJQ-PYF36-G8WGV

    microsoft sticker under the laptop:

    Product Key: *****-*****-389D7-KWHGJ-2TDMH

Yes, this is expected and is nothing to worry about.  Here is why:

Computers, which are built by large manufactures that come with Windows Pre-Installed, come with two (2) Product Keys:

    A) OEM SLP: This key comes pre-installed in Windows, when it comes from the Factory. This key is geared to work with the OEM Bios Flag found only on that Manufacturer's computer hardware. So when Windows was installed using the OEM SLP key (at the factory) Windows looks at the motherboard and sees the proper OEM Bios Flag (for that Manufacturer and that version of Windows) and Self-Activates.

    B)  COA SLP: This is the Product key that you see on the sticker on the side (or bottom) of your computer. It is a valid product key, but should only be used in limited situations (sush as if the OEM SLP key stops self-activating for whatever reason). The key must be activated by Phone.

    Hope that helps,

  • Hi sorry i've accidently done this a bit backwards. i bought this laptop second hand with vista preloaded, so i don't have a disc. but i have the authentic product of license sticker underneath. so i'm pretty confident it's legit and the product key should actually be working.

maybe a few months ago i started having problems. ive been reading the diagnostic reports trying to compare mine to others in this forum. without having much like trying some of the other solutions. and i noticed the product key in the diagnostic report was different to the one on my sticker below.

    in the report:

    Windows Product Key: *****-*****-X9PJQ-PYF36-G8WGV

    microsoft sticker under the laptop:

    Product Key: *****-*****-389D7-KWHGJ-2TDMH

(i added these *'s myself not sure if i want the entire code posted here)

Any help would be great thanks
