    how long should the Validation process take.  It has been running for over 2 hours.  

    Windows7 Pro properly installed and running since May 2014 on my PC.  When switching on this morning I had a black desktop and the message this copy of Windows is not genuine.   I downloaded and installed the Required Windows Validation Components,  then Windows validation in process, this may take a few minutes, do not navigate away from this page.   This has now been running for 1 hour and 23 minutes and is still going!   What should I do.  My product key is genuine etc.

    MGA Diagnostic Report is Required:

    To properly analyze and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the diagnostic report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )

    Once downloaded, run the tool.
    Click on the Continue button, after a short time, the Continue button will change to a Copy button.
    Click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your post.

    your windows activation hash may have been damaged

    press win+pause/break and at the bottom look for the activation and change key, paste your key into the dialog and attempt to activate 

    I have run into this a few times with client machines, this method works so far
