Vista wont activate itself RRS feed

  • Hi, I have a problem with Vista Basic. It wont activate. I get the error code 0xC004E002. When i run the MGADiag program (as i have read i should run before i wrote something here), i got this outprint:

    What can i do to activate Vista?

  • This is now solved. The solution was to restart Windows. Then activating Vista went without troubles. I don't know why this problem occurred in the first place, but it may have something to do that i didn't restart the machine more than the installation demanded...

    But now I'm more happy :)

  • Hello,

    Would you please try the following:

    1.  Right-click on Command Prompt in the Start Menu and choose "Run as adminstrator"

    2. Type "slmgr -rilc" (without the quotes) into the command prompt window and press enter.

    3. Type "slmgr -ato" (without the quotes) into the command prompt window and press enter.

    Please let me know if you run into any snags trying to do this, and please let me know if it works.   Thanks!

    But i did as you said, and on both occasions (the two commands) i got the same error message as last, namely 0xC004E002.

    This is so frustrating, I spend money on software because then you don't have to spend hours make it work.
