Do "Hands on" exams exist RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there such a thing as a on-line MS Office Skills assessment test?  One that goes beyond multiple choice questions... instead a exam that permits the person being tested to complete a task.  For example, if the exam was on MS Word, and the task was to create a table, he/she would be able to do so within the confines of the exam.

    Suggestions?

  • Hi John,

For Office these prep exams exist. Take a look here:

    http://www.certiport.com/Portal/desktopdefault.aspx?page=common/pagelibrary/certiprep_home.html

For now only 2007 and earlier are available but 2010 will follow. These prep exams are the real thing so what you practice there is what you can expect on the exam. The outcome gives you a good indication of what areas are weak and need tuning befor taking the actual exam(s).

  • Thanks Maurice... are the "real" exams interactive - i.e not multiple choice?

Do you know if an exam exists for MS Project??

  • Hi,

Yes, the real exams are interactive so it's Excel open and do the task being presented in the bottom of the screen. This goes for all the Office exams. So in retrospect these can be tough exams in relation to the other multiple choice exams ;-)

For office 2010 project was scheduled but i understood that this will be delayed because the exam might become a MCTS exam instead of an MOS exam. So it will take a couple of months before you hear something about that exam (somewhere next year)
