MS Office 2007 Validation RRS feed

  • Question

I found out that I supposedly don't have a genuine version of Office as it failed the validation on the website while trying to get some templates. I browsed through the forum and found that the problem maybe due to the trial version having been pre-installed. Now, I would like to find out how to uninstall the trial version without going through the registry?

I have a MS Office trial link on my desktop and it opens up Activation Assistant for the MS Office 2007 suite. Immediately after I got my laptop I basically went there and instead of using the trial version, I activated the MS Office 2007 I have and I am more than sure the copy I have is genuine - mainly because I got it through my university. The problem now is that what I have fails the validation test. So, I would like to uninstall the trial version. How do I do that? Should I go to the control panel and under add/remove programs, remove the Activation Assistant for MS Office 2007 suites or is that not the way to uninstall the trial version? I really would not want to go through any methods involving changes to the registry! There aren't any other MS Office Trial Version option on the list.

I also have two more questions about MS Office Word.

    1. I had this feature that would let me save a file as a .pdf file without having to download any add-ins. (I am not sure if it matters but I have the Adobe suite installed as well.) But one fine day, that option decided to disappear and instead under the save as option, it tells me to go find add-ins to save the document in another format. Could this be perhaps due to the two versions of MS Office?

    2. Whenever I open a file from my Documents folder, the first few tries the MS Word starts up but it pops up a message informing me that the file is not found. Then I would have to open the file from Word itself. This is very inconvenient and again, I suspect this is due to the two versions. If not, do advise me further on how to solve these.

I have pasted here the Diagnostic Report just so you can double check.
