I'm building a WHS and I'm looking for motherboard suggestions.  I was looking to use a ASUS P5B-VM DO but it doesn't appear to be supported.  I'm looking for a board with a lot of sata ports and ideally onboard video though it appears a lot of people are just disabling the video in the bios.  Recommedations on a sata backplane would be great as well.

  • I have a P5B-VM DO and it works great with WHS. It is on the MS Windows Server 2003 compatibility list (http://www.windowsservercatalog.com/item.aspx?idItem=b296df53-3648-fcec-dc97-e8a8e3b9d077) and all the appropriate w2k3 server drivers are available.

  • Hi.

I am considering using that MB for my own Home Server setup. As far as I know it does not officialy support win2003, but most MB's from Asus do support win2003 anyway.

If anyone has any info on wether this MB works with WHS, I would like to know. If this MB works with WHS I think it would be a great one for WHS. Six sata ports and twelve usb ports should be enough for a while.

edit: Just saw the other reply! Goodie, it works!!
