Editing Reports in Visual Studio RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have created a number of reports in CRM 2011.

My customer wants me to make enhancements to these reports. I need to be able to export these reports and modify in Visual Studion then import back into CRM 2011.

    Is this possible?

    Thanks.

  • Hi JMcCon,

Yes this is possible. You need to access the Reporint server Reports page. e.g. http://server/reports and open the orgnization folder and look for your report. When you find your report you can on the drop down menu click downlod this will downoad the rdl file that you then load in visual studio and edit.

When you finish editing you save the rdl and upload it back to CRM via the CRM web page.

    Hope it helps.

  • You'll need to have Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) 2008 that comes with SQL 2008 installed. You should also install the Report Authoring Extension from the CRM media to be able to edit FetchXML if that is required. once installed you can export, edit , and re-import the report definition files.
