NO CONFLICT RESOLUTION FUNCTION? RRS feed

  • Question

  • IS THERE A CONFLICT RESOLUTION FUNCTION TO CHOOSE WHICH DOCUMENT TO SAVE (OR TO SAVE BOTH) IF A DOCUMENT HAS BEEN MODIFIED AT DIFFERENT TIMES IN THE TWO (DIFERENT) LAPTOP?

LET SAY I ADD A LINE IN A WORD DOCUMENT IN LAPTOP "A" (LEFT FOLDER) AND NEXT DAY I ADD A DIFERENT PARAGRAPH IN LAPTOP "B" (RIGHT FOLDER) IN THE SAME DOCUMENT. THEN I SYNC BOTH LAPTOPS.

WITH SYNCTOY BOTH FOLDERS ARE SYNC ONLY WITH THE LATEST INFORMATION WRITTEN SO THE FIRST INFORMATION IS TOTALY LOST.

WITH OFFLINE FILES SYNCHRONIZATION I USED TO BE ASKED WHICH DOCUMENT TO SAVE OR TO SAVE BOTH. APPARENTLY HAVING VISTA IN ONE LAPTOP AND XP IN ANOTHER DOES NOT PERMIT OFFLINE FILES SYNC (OR AM I WRONG?)

OFFLINE FILES SYNC IS INFINITLY FASTER THAN SYNCTOY 2.0. IT WOULD TAKE ME JUST A FEW SECONDS TO SYNC WITH OFFLINE FILES WHERAS WITH SYNCTOY IT TAKES SEVERAL MINUTES. BUT IF I ASK TO CHECK FILE CONTENTS IT COULD TAKE SEVERAL HOURS.

    HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME

    THANKS IN ADVANCE
