CRM 2015 subgrid changes no add new record button

Question
-
We have recently converted from CRM 2011 RU18 to CRM 2015 RU1 in our test environment. On many of your forms we had subgrids to related entities. However on these subgrids there appears to be no way to add a new record any longer as the ribbon is not there to show the add new or add existing buttons and there is no + button on the subgrid itself. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Jenn

Hi Jonas,
To make "+" symbol visible on top right corner of sub grid - you need to customize the form.
Go to Entity form editor in which the sub grid is.
On ribbon click on Navigation > it enable the left side panel of the form editor.
Now, just add the link of 1:N to left navigation panel.
Save & Publish the changes. It will visible the "+" symbol to add new & existing records.

So basically, from CRM 2015 (something) you must have the associated navigation view visible to get the + activated for teh subgrids?
That sort of takes away the advantage of using subgrids, if you want to keep the navigation as un-cluttered as possible...
Will try this though, thanks Piyush.

In this case we have a quick view form for related account placed on the case form, and the quick view form displays contacts on the account. (or something similar, but with a bunch of custom entities)
And there is no option to add navigation items to a quick view form, of course.
So I guess we are screwed when upgrading our clients to newer CRM versions...
There is however something fixed for version 7.1.1.4 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3134669
There are a couple of bullets there concerning plus sign on subgrids. Any idea if that would help us?We are currently on CRM 2016 Onprem ver 8.0.0.1088.

Hi guys,
I had a task similar to this, just upgraded an environment from 2011 RU18 to 2015 (OnPrem). The task was to enable "Add existing Contact" (contact-subgrid) to an Account Form. The subgrid didn´t have the + option, only see records associated.
After few exercises I finally managed, I tried the "Optional" / "Required" method on the 1:N relationship. That didn´t help at all.
Then next step I tried making the parentcustomerid required, no good either.
Finally I found an article which led to the answer. By using Ribbon Workbench, Entities = Contact / Sub Grid = Add EXISTING (0) / Customize Command / Display Rules / Remove the Mscrm.HideExisting rule.
That saved the day!
So I didn´t had to add another custom 1:N relation between Account vs. Contact. My guess is that this has something to do with CRM 2011 / 2015 upgrade process because I haven´t had this before in a clean 2015 / 2016 environments.
Hopefully this will come in handy.- Edited by Raggoz Tuesday, March 8, 2016 9:12 AM Weird formatting
