LW changes punctuation marks to different marks.

Question

I am getting this problem where certain things are being replaced after upload. For example something like "don't" gets changed to ?don?t". very frustrating.
Apostrophe's are the most common thing to be replaced for me, and they are replaced by question marks.
I did a sample post of all the characters, here is what I typed into Live Writer:
“ “ ‘ : ; . , – _ + = / ? > < ] } { [ * & ^ % $ # @ ! ( ) ` ~
This is how it was posted after upload:
? ? ? : ; . , ? _ + = / ? > < ] } { [ * & ^ % $ # @ ! ( ) ` ~
I am using it says the Technical Preview Build 14.03913.522 en

Rev Metcalfe, that issue should be fixed if you install the latest beta: http://download.live.com/writerFusedOne, try turning off the "Replace" options under Tools | Options | Editing. Or if you want those features, you'll have to experiment with the character set of your blog--we can help you figure it out if you tell us the blog homepage URL.

I've had similar problems and i think i found the cause, the entire spellcheck function is bugged.
For words such as It's it marks them as spelt wrong, in the checker it has two correct spellings 'It's' and 'It's' one after the other. The first one leads to two end results, either the spellchecker says it's encountered an error and asks to report it to microsoft, or nothing happens and when you post you get symbols.
The other problem is on adding words to the dictionary as well. It won't let you add words with certain combinations. For example 'It's' isn't in the dictionary at all, and it tries to replace it with 'It'd', however if you click add, it says it encountered a problem and wants to report to microsoft.
Here's what the log file says on the error:WindowsLiveWriter,3052,Fail,00006,25-Jul-2008 23:21:01.546,"Unexpected Error Occurred

It's too bad we've not had any help with this situation. If one has to still login to their blog to edit the post, might as well post from the blog and not use Live Writer. Until this is fixed, Live Writer wont be a cool application, convenient thing to use, it will be a extra hassle.Sunday, August 10, 2008 3:58 AM

FusedOne,Those options are for smart quotes, em dashes, the copyright symbol, etc. You can read about dashes and quotes here, tips #2 and #3:The problem seems to be that either Nucleus or the database it's using doesn't support these characters. If you don't care about them you can just leave those options off.Tuesday, January 13, 2009 6:47 PMModerator

No I don't really care about those things, thank you for helping me, I was so frustrated with that issue that it stopped me from using Live Writer except when inserting pictures. THANK YOU.Thursday, January 15, 2009 9:35 AM
