Microsoft E-Learning training for exam 70-464: Developing Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Databases RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

I would like to find out if an online course will be created to prepare for the 70-464 exam.

I liked the idea of purchasing online course Collection 6370 https://www.microsoftelearning.com/eLearning/collection.aspx?guid=F70F83A4-6C31-45A9-A7DC-649419FAA591, but it is for the 2008 SQL Server. Would anything similar be available for the 2012 release any time soon?

Otherwise, would you recommend getting that 2008 collection still and sitting the exam for the 2012?

    Thank you in advance!

  • Looking at the course colection and the "Skills Measured" for the exam, I'd say that that the course collection would indeed be useful for preparing the exam. Most of the topics (Implement database objects, Implement programming objects, Design database objects) are besically unchanged from 2008R2 to 2012, so the content of the course collection would be useful to you. You would just need to take a quick look at the list of new features in 2012 (such as Sequences) to be fully prepared for these parts of the exam.

However, note that the exam also has a section labelled "Optimize and troubleshoot queries" that, as far as I can tell, is not sufficiently covered in Collection 6370, so you will need to find other sources of information to learn about these topics.
