Azure DevOps (Migration from TFS 2012) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are looking to upgrade our TFS 2012 to either Azure DevOps Server or TFS 2015,would need some guidance on which TFS version to pick and considering future Azure development.

Currently we are on BizTalk server 2013 which uses Windows 2012 VM, Visual Studio 2012 and TFS 2012 (runs on a separate Windows 2012 R2 box). And have TeamCity and Octopus for CI/CD.

We also have Azure integration components which uses Windows 2012 R2 VM for development purpose, Visual Studio 2017 and same TFS 2012, TeamCity and Octopus for source repo and CI/CD.

The TFS OS and Azure Dev VM OS needs to be upgrade to Windows 2016 Server, and hence we are looking at upgrading TFS 2012 as well. Looking at the compatibility matrix, Microsoft only provides "General Support" for TFS 2015 and higher for Visual Studio 2012 (required for BizTalk 2013 development). Just wanted to understand the key differences between Full support and General Support, and what TFS features we will be loosing on General support.

     Thanks.
