2007 Office lost validation after 2003 uninstall RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I had successfully upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007. I decided after a few days to uninstall the 2003 version. Soon after, I restarted Outlook which complained of now missing its MSN connector (msncon32.dll). I went to the MS page to download this and now was met with a "Validation Cannot be Completed[0x80180112] " message. Below is the diagnostic tool output:

Here is an option we have for assisting customers to address issues they are currently experiencing.  The link here references Knowledge Base (KB) article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301.  This will allow you to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and provides detailed information on its use. Use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and uninstall all Microsoft Office programs 2003/2007 then reinstall Microsoft Office 2003 and upgrade to Office 2007 as Carey had mentioned.

Restart your computer and try validating Office again at http://www.microsoft.com/genuine and clicking the “Validate Office” button. .  If validation is still failing please follow the steps below:

    1) Logon to the PC that is experiencing the notifications as a user with “ADMINISTRATOR” privileges.
    2) Download the tool:
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012  click RUN.
    3) When the tool loads, click “CONTINUE”.
    4) Is the “RESOLVE” button available? If so, please click “RESOLVE” to allow the diagnostic tool repair the issue.
    5) From the Windows tab, click the COPY button.
    6) Please reply back to this post and PASTE the entire results into reply of this post.

If you need further assistance please re-post here.

    I hope this helps!

  • If you upgrade from one version of Office to another, you are not suppose to uninstall the original Office program that served as the basis for upgrading.  Now, you need to start over and reinstall Office 2003, then upgrade to Office 2007.
