Live ID change...

Question
-
Hello,
My question pertains to the Live ID tied to the Live Mesh account.
I have had this Live ID / Passport account for some time, but now I want to change my login email address to better align with the other accounts that I have. The reason is that I want to kill the email address with which I originally signed up to Passport with years ago and consolidate my email and accounts. I have linked my Live ID email to the one that I want to use and all is well, except that my old email shows up as my User ID in Live Mesh when logged in and when syncing files across devices.
My question is, and it may be a dumb one, if I remove the link between the email addresses and close my Live ID account, will I be able to get back into the Live Mesh program with a brand new Live ID account or am I able to log on only with the Live ID that is linked to the Live Mesh Preview program? Also, I have a current MSDN subscription that I would have to link back to my new Live ID account.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Ah, this must be an EASI account (non hotmail/live.com) and you went through this process? You might try to edit your registered information on the Account Summary page. I'm not sure if we periodically refresh this data. If you don't see it taking effect after some time, feel free to open a bug in Connect and we can take a look.
Thanks!
Richard

Hello,
The Live Mesh Tech Preview doesn't understand linked Live IDs today, so if you delete the Live ID that is provisioned in the Tech Preview from Passport, we will no longer be able to authenticate you against the system. There's no way around this today.
You could always get someone to invite your other Live ID to the Tech Preview (or even yourself, if you have any invites left).
Sorry!
Richard

Richard,
Thanks for your reply.
When I went back to follow the steps that you suggested I discovered that I actually changed my Live ID, not linked it. I can only log in using the new Live ID, which is fine. However, my old email address still shows up as the logged in user and as the owner of any new folders that I create.
In another person's post, they asked a question about why his/her first and last name is displayed as opposed to the email address and the reply was that it was not yet a feature supported by Live Mesh. Is the answer that I just need to wait until that feature is implemented for the logged in user's name and owner's name to change, or is there something that I can do now?
Thanks again,

I'm not certain how you "changed your Live ID". Are you sure you're logged in with the new ID? Sometimes the browser gets confused. The easiest way to be sure is to sign out first.
We get your full name from your Live ID's Account settings: https://account.live.com/

DevDuck,
Thanks for the reply.
When I log on to the Live Account Settings Site there is a link titled "Change" next to the email/Live ID. In there I was able to change my Live ID. I am able to log on with the new ID and get into my Live Mesh. I am also able to log on to the MSDN subscription page using the new Live ID and get to my subscription page. I can no longer log in with my old ID. All that is fine. That is what I want.
The only thing that I have a question on is how it is pulling my old ID and displaying that as the logged in user, and how it is listed as the owner of any new folders that I create using the Live Mesh Desktop. Also, should I be able to log on with my old ID to be able to close that account?
Thanks,
amk

Richard,
Thanks again for the reply.
You are exactly right. That is the process that I followed. I entered my name in the Registered Information section as you suggested and will open a bug report if I do not see a change.
Thanks for your help,
