OFF TOPIC:Help! I can't restore any files after I reinstalled Windows XP

  I was forced to reinstall XP after my computer wouldn't load up.  I had the option of totally wiping out all data on my computer or backing up all files and reinstalling XP.  I chose the option to save all my files, but after the install, I'm unable to find any of the files I had on my computer.  I found my back up file, c:\my backup, but I can't find any of my files that had music, pictures or documents in them. 

   

  Also, there are some files in c:\my backup that I can't open.  It tells me that "access is denied."  I think some of my lost stuff may be in those files.  Is there a way to get those to open for me?  Where did all my files go?
