    Is it ok to remove a mcaffe program after I installed yours.  will I have the protection.

    It is necessary to uninstall McAfee if you have One Care installed. You will actually have more protection using only one antivirus program.

    Since the McAfee security software is notorius for not removing cleanly via Control Panel, you may want to download and run their removal tool:
