Genuine Advantage Problem Windows 7 Download Vitual pc RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have re-installed Windows 7 home premium 64 bit into a new clean hard drive. Old drive getting small, slow and cluttered.

I run virtual machines from another drive that I removed during reinstallation.

I activated the installation havng done all the updates.

I put the virtual machines hard drive back and went to down load the Virtual PC software.

The download center Windows Virtual PC page asks for "Validation required"

Click on it and the box pops up to install software and you I go install

The box pops up asking you to agree to changes to your computer and you go ok

and then you come back to the same page

    and nothing else happens!

If I got something saying there was a problem, this would help me diagnose the problem. Otheres seem to have had such messages but not me.

If I click back to the down load page either by back button or going from this page I still get the same thing.

I apreciate any help anyone can give.

    Louis

  • Sorry People (especially noel for answering. I did not mention I had already gone to IE reading other things here) but this is not a problem now!

I realised that the file did in fact download but did not ask if it should or ask to be run and the name of the file in downloads is rather criptic.

This may be a result of this being a new installation and I have not got all the same boxes ticked or not in IE

  • You need to use Internet Explorer rather than Firefox for any operation involving validation on Windows downloads.

Some users need to reset the Default Browser to IE temporarily, as well.
